fruits led table lamps by hisakazu shimizu

tokyo-based designer hisakazu shimizu of sabo studio presents new works in the exhibition ‘fruits’, currently on display at vivid gallery in rotterdam. examining the universality of fruit, this series of objects recreates these borderless products of nature as domesticated, man-made housewares. the collection includes a range of pieces, from melon-shaped porcelain clocks to colorful glassblown LED lamps, that subtly suggest fruit with their spherical shapes and stem details.

the fruit LED lamp has a product closely related to nature, revised version of "pop." The exhibition, curated by Eizo Okada, includes a wide range of works, led lighting, kitchenware and watches. The Japanese designer Hisakazu Shimizu is a member of Canon’s in-house design team, including, the most famous works include products such as Canon IXUS digital camera. Shimizu also develops products with ‘Sabo Studio’ colored objects and a unique simplicity that often exceed the boundary between design and art. From his studio in Tokyo do these new results, able to attract the viewer like an apple in Eden.

The delightful Toggle is a lamp that is switched on and off by simply toggling it left or right! This is the case of Toggle Light, inspired by the on-off logics of mechanical toggles. Instead of indirectly moving a switch to light up the lamp, you directly toggle the lamp left or right…simple, chic, beautiful, minimalistic and retro, Sometimes, the simplest concept is the most beautiful and fascinating.

The Luna LED lamp characterised is indistinct, streaky darker and lighter parts, which usually show features of mixed metamorphic and igneous rocks formed by lava. For the Luna light range, a similar composite material has been used.
