Now here’s something we’ve never seen before – a LED lightbulb that can be recharged.Currently on parade at IFA 2010, Magic Bulb from China has come up with an LED bulb which sips a mere 4 watts of power while delivering the equivalent amount of light as a 50W bulb. What makes it all the more special is its built-in rechargeable battery that will provide enough juice for the bulb to keep on going for another 3 hours just in case you experience a blackout. It can be screwed out of its socket and the handle extended to turn it into a bright LED torch.

The Magic Bulb is expected to retail for between US$30 and $40 when it finds distribution in other parts of the world. It’s a set and forget solution that will almost certainly come in handy when the electricity goes down next. It has a life of 20,000 hours, saves over 70 percent of the power used by an equivalent brightness 50W filament globe, and meets all the international standards.

LED Bottle Light

Bottle Light is an energy-saving environmentally friendly light, which makes full use of the potential of waste material through the recycling of discarded bottles.

Bottle Light does not need any external power supply to make it work. The user has to simply replace the original bottle cap with the Bottle Light and compress the air in the bottle repeatedly to make the piston of Bottle Light move up and down. This action changes mechanical energy into electric energy, which lights the LED on the bottle cap. Extra electric energy generated by the movement is stored in the battery. Bottle Light is small and handy, and it can be put in the pocket or worn as an ornament when not being used. When light is required, the user can simply pick up a bottle and screw Bottle Light on.

Bottle Light has two illumination modes, which are operated using the "up" and "down" switches on the cap. When the "up" mode is switched on, the LED at the top of the cap is lit and Bottle Light can be used as a hand-held torch. When the "down" mode is switched on, the LED at the bottom is lit. It lights up the whole bottle, which allows Bottle Light to be used as a flood lamp. Different colors can be made available. Bottle Light can be used to add atmosphere to special event such as parties. It can also be used as a signal lamp.

The torch is easily lifted from the lamp stand after the wire is unplugged. The torch’s internal batteries are recharged during the normal use of the table lamp.
