Acoustic dampening LED light Relief

I always kind of liked the old egg-crate design of acoustic dampening you see in recording studios and theaters. But this latest design by Altera Design Studio called “Accustica” may not be everyone’s aesthetic cup of tea but it sure opens up this world to more interpretation from other designers. Corian is molded for the base layer and upper layers are Corian Bas Reliefed. There is a cavity for LED lighting bulbs which lightens through the translucent layer of the skin.

“Accustica” aims elevation on senses of human inside the room both when the lights are on & off. With some of the drugs flowing through the veins of today’s musicians, I would hope these patterns would do more to inspire them then have them climbing the walls naked screaming to keep the giant crab people from sucking on their eyeballs.

The largest LED lighting glass facade in Mexico

1211LIGHTING at the forefront of Acapulco’s re-birth creates first even environmental friendly LED lighting installation and one of the largest in Mexico is setting new standards of excellence with lighting design in this popular tourist destination. Forum Imperial located at the center of Acapulco’s Diamante Zone is the first of three structures of Mundo Imperial. The 2060 square meter glass facade is illuminated by more than 89,000 individual LEDs. The result, a dazzling fusion of color-changing and signage effects is captivating passersby and intensifying the entertainment value and experience of visitors attending events.

With construction just underway I know something big was about to begin,” says Manuel Padilla Tapia, president of 1211LIGHTING, which provided the design concept, LED solution and programming as well as consulting and installation services. I envisioned a spectacular facade of active patterns of color and scrolling-text, inspiring a new icon of the city.

The challenge was to encourage the mega developer and architect to replace the 1500W metal halides fixtures using color filters with energy-efficient LED solutions, providing greater design flexibility and a seamless facade of dynamic colors, motion graphics and basic billboard capabilities supporting a wide variety of content for real-time advertising and promotional opportunities. In addition to generating a new glow of modern sophistication with state-of-the-art LED technology in the Diamante Zone, 1211Lighting honored the pure engineering grandeur of the sophisticated architecture – far exceeding the original wall-wash design concept.

the world’s largest LED light pinwheel and LED Christmas Decoration

The surreal pinwheel is a collaboration between Siemens, a world leader is wind power, and multi-media artist Michael Pendry. We’ve seen LEDs used in similar fashion to create patterns and imagery, but this is, well, way big. After a year of engineering, modeling, and trials, the world’s largest Christmas star now hovers above the A9 Autobahn near Munich’s northern gateway. Affixed to the three blades of the massive wind turbine–70-meters tip to tip–are 9,000 LEDs, all of which use less power than a hairdryer.

In the following months, the idea slowly became reality. At first, the focus was on the project’s technical feasibility. In the spring of 2009, a handful of experts in various disciplines such as wind energy, aerodynamics, lighting and adhesives got together to sketch out all aspects necessary for realizing the project. Answers had to be found for all key issues: How should the LEDs be arranged to have the least possible impact on the wind turbine’s aerodynamics? Which type of LED should be used? Which adhesives were most effective for securing the LEDs in every type of weather?

LED Action Facade, LED display Medialab-Prado

Langarita-Navarro Architect’s rather splendid Led wall at the Medialab-Prado in central Madrid is a beautiful interactive facade that aims to be a space for exchange and communication with both visitors and locals, a brave commission by the Madrid Town Council to develop social interaction and to offer a new digital landmark for their city which is often so closely guarded from development. 144m2 of wall space is covered with some 35,000 Led nodes that are configured to allow both still and moving imagery, allowing the wall, with it’s simple traditional madrileno definition to come alive with some beautifully psychedelic imagery.

The LED panels dot matrix digital work – Mirror, Mirror

Mirror, Mirror (Jason Bruges) was commissioned by the V&A in partnership with SAP for the Decode exhibition.

The white dot matrix digital LED panels seem to float on the pond, awakening as visitors come into view. Cameras mounted within the LED dot matrices capture activity in the garden and simultaneously reflect this back to the viewer; the animated images are then mirrored once again in the surface of the water, creating multiple reflections.

Mirror, Mirror explores the concept of narcissism and the individual’s relationship with space and others. The playful nature of the work encourages you to explore the interactivity and consider the interconnected relationships.
