tokyo-based designer hisakazu shimizu of sabo studio presents new works in the exhibition ‘fruits’, currently on display at vivid gallery in rotterdam. examining the universality of fruit, this series of objects recreates these borderless products of nature as domesticated, man-made housewares. the collection includes a range of pieces, from melon-shaped porcelain clocks to colorful glassblown LED lamps, that subtly suggest fruit with their spherical shapes and stem details.

the fruit LED lamp has a product closely related to nature, revised version of "pop." The exhibition, curated by Eizo Okada, includes a wide range of works, led lighting, kitchenware and watches. The Japanese designer Hisakazu Shimizu is a member of Canon’s in-house design team, including, the most famous works include products such as Canon IXUS digital camera. Shimizu also develops products with ‘Sabo Studio’ colored objects and a unique simplicity that often exceed the boundary between design and art. From his studio in Tokyo do these new results, able to attract the viewer like an apple in Eden.
