Yamagiwa Moonbird: simple, beautiful LED lamp

LED lamp,simple,hand crafted

We tend to think of LED lamps as being modern and sleek, as well as mass-produced in some factory in China. That’s a shame, because we think that hand crafted lamps and furniture are well worth the effort. They just look awesome and have an attention to detail that is missing most of the time from mass-produced items.

The Yamagiwa Moonbird is an exquisite LED lamp designed by Yukio Hashimoto. She hand-carved this lamp from beech plywood. It uses 28 LEDs that each have 0.5 watts of power. It’s sure to be eco-friendly and expensive. Still, we find this really beautiful. It leads us to believe that hand crafted LED lamps can be made easily by makers and DIY-enthusiasts.
